"XHTML Basic" reference with examples

Introduction 

The goal of "XHTML Basic" is to serve as a common language supported by various kinds of user agents. Basic content can be shared across desktop computers, TVs, PDAs, pagers, and mobile phones.

The indexes and most examples (with some editing) were extracted from the HTML 4.01 standard and XHTML Basic DTD's.
